The Sideroad Saunter
A reflective walking retreat in the country.
Christa believes walking can be a powerful spiritual practice and is happiest on the trail. She has been profoundly impacted by the experience of pilgrimage both abroad and locally here in Ontario. Christa has had over 20 years of experience facilitating individuals and groups and finds deep fulfillment in helping people slow down so they can wake up to their souls.
Embrace a Slower Pace to Engage Your Active Life
NEW DATE ADDED: Sunday, September 22, 12:30pm - 5:30pm
(please note: Saturday, September 14 date is SOLD OUT.)
Are you looking for an afternoon to reset after the summer and refresh for the fall season ahead? Take time to listen to your soul while walking in peace.
There’s something quite restorative about the rural, pastoral landscape of southwestern Ontario, and this half day guided walking experience will help you tune in and see things like you never have before.
Give yourself the gift of slowing down, so you can wake up and listen to your soul.
We’ll be walking just outside Elora Ontario. Known has “Ontario’s Most Beautiful Village”, you can start your day on your own exploring the shops, grabbing a coffee and a bite at one of many desirable spots, or stroll around the farmer’s market set along the banks of the Grand River.
12:30pm: Meet at a beautiful 2 acre retreat country property for introductions, a guided reflection, and instructions to prepare for our walk.
1:00pm: Walk #1 (7km … about 1-1.5 hours). People will be encouraged to walk quietly on their own reflecting on the guided meditation that you’re given prior to walking.
2:30pm: Rest & Reflect. Delicious refreshments will be waiting for you, and so will the hammock! Take this time to reflect on your walk.
Christa will provide helpful reflection prompts and resources for you.
The comfortable chairs set around this gorgeous property gives you and your fellow walkers ample space to breath deep and reflect well.
3:30pm: Preparatory Guide for Walk #2 ( 7km …about 1-1.5 hours). This time is yours to slow down, so you can wake up to what your soul is saying to you. You’ll be given additional reflective prompts and instruction to support your second walking experience.
5:00pm: Walk #2 wraps up. Group debrief time over celebratory refreshments.
5:30pm: Experience Ends. Give yourself time to head back into Elora to one of the amazing restaurants and explore the famous gorge.
$60.00 - Includes the entire afternoon experience: Refreshments, guided instruction, take-home meditations & resources, and enjoyment of property.
*This experience is limited to 10 people. Sign up on your own, as a couple, or as a group.
Note: This is a “rain or shine” walking retreat! (if it’s raining, the reflection time between the two mindful-walks will be indoors). You may be surprised what walking in the rain has to teach you!
Register to reserve your spot.
*You will receive additional information about the mindful-walking retreat including directions, what to wear, and how to prepare just after Labour Day.
Spend the afternoon savoring the serenity, simplicity, and quiet on this gorgeous country property.
Land Acknowledgment: The retreat is operating in privilege on the traditional homeland of the Neutral, Anishinaabe, and Haudenosaunee nations. We give thanks to and acknowledge the many Indigenous Peoples who call this region home. We hold with us in this space the recognition of the violence committed in the name of God against the Indigenous Peoples of this land, our fellow image bearers of God, as we work and pray for shalom. Today, this area is home to many indigenous peoples from across Turtle Island and we acknowledge the Mississaugas of the Credit.
